About

Welcome friends, and dobrý deň! My name is Helena Š. George, and this blog is kind of a "catch-all" for some of the circles I find myself wandering in.

I have been writing stories since 2010. In 2020, Sarah Rodecker and I started The Order of the Pen Press, a publishing business where stories have a deeper purpose and a higher calling. Since then, we have published over ten titles and have an exciting list of new releases on the way! You can find details for my personal books here on this blog.

I have been riding/driving horses for nearly twenty years now. I currently live on a small farm in NC, with my horses, cats, and a scruffy nerf-herder of a dog named Max. I volunteer with the local trail system, and also have a side-hustle of farm sitting for some of the local folks.

I completed my first Ride and Tie race in 2015, and got hooked! In 2021 I also began competing in Endurance rides. The distance riding community is welcoming, and I enjoy the opportunity to be with my horses for hours in the woods. In 2020 I became the ride manager for the Sauratown Mountain Ride & Tie race, which brings people from all over the east coast to my local trail system.

Cosplay has always been something I enjoy, but for years I had to purchase the items I wore. In 2024, I learned to sew and began creating my projects by hand. While I am far from an expert, it's become a fun and exciting challenge to work on new projects!

I have been playing the mandolin since 2009 or so, and eventually moved on to putter about with other instruments (banjo, guitar, fiddle, piano, and dulcimer to name a few). Over the years I have played in bands, competed at conventions, and performed on stage. I no longer play "officially," but I still enjoy picking around when an opportunity presents.

Lastly, I am a Christian, saved by grace, which means my chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift! O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Lamentations 3:21-23. This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
